MSN-001A1 Delta P Plus

Gundam Unicorn has released a new mass production unit that looks like the lovechild of the Zeta Gundam and the Hyaku Shiki. The gold color, head shape and leg design alone speaks volumes of references to Char’s Hyaku Shiki from the Zeta Gundam series. But the long beam rifle and its Waverider Mode is very obvious reference to Camille Bidan’s Zeta Gundam from the same series. Here’s the translation from Gunota Headlines:

MSN-001A1 Delta Plus (Earth Federation)

Head height: 19.6 m

Base weight: 27.2 t

Generator output: 2,460 kW

Maximum thrust: 92,400 kg

Sensor radius: 16,200 m

Armor: Gundarium alloy

“Anaheim Electronics variable MS supplied to the Nahal Argama after losing the majority of its mobile weapon complement to fighting with the Kshatriya. An all-purpose strike machine useable in all domains with its waverider form, which flies under 1G of gravity and has unassisted atmospheric entry capabilities. Since it is a nonstandard prototype difficult to place in a unit, it’s thought it was sent to the Nahal Argama, which makes use of a lot of similarly nonstandard things for a single warship.”

  1. The gold unit pictured here is actually the “Delta Gundam”. This was the plan for what eventually became the Hyaku-Shiki. The transformation mechanism wasn’t up to snuff though so they ditched that idea and made the Hyaku Shiki. The actual Delta Plus, is the blue unit on the facing page.

  2. Interesting. Where did you get this information? So you mean to say this technology or at least the design plans have already been around as far back as Zeta Gundam?

  3. The existence of the Delta Gundam has been known for a long time, but I don’t know if there was any artwork of it until “Gundam MS Graphica “came out. The CG thumbs in the lower right section of the page you posted are from that book which was just published this year.

  4. Interesting. So this means the writer of Gundam Unicorn has decided to incorporate previous mecha designs into the new storyline?

  5. Actually, the original plans for Hyaku Shiki as intended by its designer “Nagano Mamoru” to be Zeta Gundam but was rejected as the transformation system is quite defective which was the same for its story in the Anime. It was again redesigned to become a high mobility mobile suit..

  6. [...] wrote about this transforming MS sometime way back then. For those who don’t know yet, the Delta Gundam had been under development as far back as [...]

  7. So, where can one get this model kit? I’d like to get one myself, and ever since I found out about this Delta Plusa week or so back, I’ve come up empty handed. Any places in the US supplying these model kits????
